The 25-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Boston on Wednesday. William Schupp spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with no outs in the 5th inning. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Robinson (2-2) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 2, throwing 123 pitches. Toronto's catcher Jesus Baeza got 3 hits in 4 AB, blasting a homerun. Wednesday 6/7/2080: Brian Felan drills 5 hits TAMPA BAY - 'Wow, five hits in one game is something special, isn't it?' said Baltimore's third baseman Brian Felan after the 14-1 win over Tampa Bay. In the 1st inning he unloaded a GRAND SLAM off Jonathan Perez. A two-run double off Jonathan Perez in the 5th inning accounted for his 3rd hit. A pitch from Tony Adkins in the 7th inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 388 feet from home plate in right field. His 5th hit was a double off Gerald Colton in the 8th inning. Tuesday 6/6/2080: Manuel Duran shuts out Los Angeles (N) on 2 hits LOS ANGELES (N) - Age doesn't matter. At least Philadelphia's right-hander Manuel Duran shares this opinion. The 38 year old pitched a 2-hit shutout against Los Angeles (N), recording his 1st shutout of the season. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Duran (7-2) struck out 8 and walked 2, throwing 69 of 106 pitches for strikes. His 1st hit, a solo homerun off John Valenti in the 4th inning, cleared the fence in center field. Number 2 in the 5th inning accounted for a RBI double. Friday 6/2/2080: Alberto Ramos stars with 2000th career hit ST. LOUIS - Milwaukee's second baseman Alberto Ramos joined some elite company today, collecting his 2000th career hit! Along with his 2000 hits, Alberto collected 281 homeruns and 1085 RBI in 15 seasons. 'You dream about that as a kid, but when you reach such a milestone it's hard to believe. Fantastic.' With no outs in the 6th inning, Alberto drilled a two run homerun, causing a standing ovation from the crowd. |

Thursday 6/1/2080: Detroit's Desilva named Pitcher of the Month It's the 2nd time that the American League Pitcher of the Month award goes to Detroit's pitcher Gregory Hillyard. He had an ERA of just 1.40 in 45 innings of work in which he struck out 49 hitters. His record in May is 3-0. Opposing players hit .230 against Gregory this season. While posting an ERA of 2.53 he went 5-2 in 12 starts, fanning 86 and walking 11 hitters. The best month of May in the American League certainly had Detroit's right-hander Edmundo Desilva, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. Thursday 6/1/2080: Garcia (OAK) and Nilsen (SDN) win monthly award The Batter of the Month award in the American League goes to Oakland's William Garcia this time, as the centerfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He had an on base percentage of .464 and hit .418, while driving in 36 runs. His season numbers are: .400 AVG, 80 hits, 14 doubles, 4 triples and 14 taters, along with 61 RBI and 40 runs scored. Tuesday 5/30/2080: Jimmy James on fire, hits for cycle NEW YORK (N) - Jimmy James hits 'em where they ain't. New York (N) certainly agrees as San Diego's leftfielder unloaded four hits and hitting for the cycle. In the 1st inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Carlos Leiva. A pitch from Carlos Leiva in the 3rd inning left his bat for a triple. A single in the 5th off Carlos Leiva accounted for his 3rd hit. In the 8th inning he belted a double off Carlos Leiva. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Jimmy did drive in one while scoring 2 runs on his own. Tuesday 5/30/2080: Kansas City's Ahumada out for 6-7 weeks KANSAS CITY - Kansas City's right-hander Julio Ahumada suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 6-7 weeks. In the 6th of the game against Minnesota he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Strained Elbow Ligament. Sunday 5/21/2080: Baltimore has no chance in a 2-hitter by Zakiasu Ennosuke COLORADO - Colorado's right-hander Zakiasu Ennosuke is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Baltimore on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 2nd time he has done it in his career. Ennosuke (2-3) struck out 6 and issued 1 BB, throwing 59 of 90 pitches for strikes. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Saturday 5/20/2080: Ricardo Collado NO-HITS Toronto FLORIDA - Toronto's bats were sleeping, and Florida's Ricardo Collado gave them no chance at all to wake up. He was untouchable in firing a no-hitter in his 8th game started this season. Collado (4-3) fanned 8 and walked 2, throwing 99 pitches. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped. Thursday 5/18/2080: Carlos Garcia socks five hits for Philadelphia CHICAGO (N) - Philadelphia's centerfielder Carlos Garcia once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Chicago (N)'s pitching staff with a 5 hit performance on Thursday. His 1st hit, a solo homerun off Edward Roberts in the 1st inning, landed an estimated 441 feet from home plate. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Arizona where he left the field in the 7th inning. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Strained Tricep Muscle which will require surgery. Robert has a record of 3-2 this season, with an ERA of 4.00. In the 3rd of the game against Washington he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Ruptured Elbow Ligament which will require surgery. |
Wednesday 4/12/2080: Nicky Cressey quiets Oakland bats with shutout MINNESOTA - It was a great day for Minnesota's right-hander Nicky Cressey. The 27-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against Oakland on Wednesday. 'Pitching a great game is always a good thing. And it doesn't get much better than today.' Cressey (1-2) struck out 8 and walked 3, throwing 63 of 102 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Minnesota was shortstop Christopher Maddox, he stroked 1 hit in 4 AB, and driving in 2 runs. Minnesota improved its record to 5-3, scoring 5 runs on 8 hits. |
Monday 4/10/2080: San Diego's Hosmer wins Player of the Week award Micheal Slade wins his 1st Player of the Week award. American League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He had an on base percentage of .565 and hit .500, while driving in 11 runs. Micheal managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. The National League's best player of the week was San Diego's Michael Hosmer, who wins the award for the 14th time in his career. Michael pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .444 with 2 HR and 10 RBI while slugging .778. |
Saturday 4/8/2080: Michael Hosmer unloads, hits number 700 PHILADELPHIA - San Diego's first baseman Michael Hosmer made baseball history today, collecting his 700th career homerun! A 445 foot drive to center field marked his 700th career bomb, a GRAND SLAM off Carlos Aznar in the 6th inning. In 17 years of big league action so far, Michael has compiled a batting average of .284, along with 2520 hits and 1885 RBI. Michael has managed to hit 30+ homeruns in a season 14 times, and he topped 40 homeruns 10 times. 'Wow. That is all I can say now. I'm thrilled.' It's no secret that he will one day be in the Hall of Fame! |

He suffered a serious injury in a game against Houston where he left the field in the 5th inning. Milwaukee wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Mechling had suffered a Ruptured Bicep Tendon. |
