Sunday 4/30/2083: Huge blow for New York (N)'s Leiva, career over NEW YORK (N) - It was one of baseball saddest days. New York (N)'s right-hander Carlos Leiva fell victim to a career ending injury in a game against Florida on Sunday. He complained about pain after throwing a pitch to Richard Okelley, then suddenly collapsed. New York (N) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Leiva had suffered a Torn Bicep Muscle. This season Leiva compiled an ERA of 3.05, going 2-1 in 6 starts. He fanned 60 while giving up 31 hits in 44.1 innings. His career featured a record of 51-62 with an ERA of 4.32. Baseball will certainly miss this great player. |
